Here Are the Top 5 Things to Do in Kelowna, Canda

Spread the love

Want to know what to do in Kelowna, British Columbia? Have no fear; we’ve got you covered. On our way from Vancouver to Revelstoke, we stopped at the Okanagan Valley, one of our most beloved parts of British Columbia. It had been a while since we’d last been, but it didn’t take long to remember why so many people were making a move to Kelowna.

This town has a fantastic culinary scene, distilleries, and plenty of outdoor activities, in addition to the excellent wine culture. Put Kelowna at the top of your list when considering weekend trips from Vancouver or road trips around British Columbia.

  • Tour Of The Wineries In Kelowna

Kelowna is a fantastic spot to sample a wide range of excellent Canadian wines, whether you take a guided tour or go out on your own. The Okanagan Valley is widely recognized as one of Canada’s finest wine-producing areas, so any visit here would be incomplete without sampling some of the local vino. Kelowna, Lake Country, and Vernon are just a few places where you may get Okanagan wine. There are extensive vineyards on par with California and smaller wineries owned by families here.

So far, we have only made it to the Summerhill Pyramid Winery. The fact that this vineyard practices biodynamic agriculture was a significant selling point for me. They showed us every step of the process, from planting the grapes to aging them in a real on-site pyramid, which they think imparts specific energy to the wine. Several guided wine tours in Kelowna include lunch and stops at many wineries if you’d rather not drive alone. If you want to act like you own the property, you can take a helicopter flight of the vineyards or a wine tour in a chauffeured vintage automobile.

  • Myra Gorge

All the activities in Kelowna, this was our favorite. Everyone we spoke to along the way agreed that the scenery was breathtaking. One of the most beautiful sights in British Columbia, much alone the Okanagan Valley, can be seen from the trestles of the Kettle Valley Railway in Myra Canyon.

The Kettle Valley Rail Trail is 650 kilometers long, stretching from Hope to Castlegar; however, the most breathtaking scenery may be seen at Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park, located just outside Kelowna. Visit the 18 trestle bridges that cling to the walls of Myra Canyon by foot or bike. Two remarkable railway tunnels have been cut through the canyon walls, providing spectacular vistas along the route. Go for a hike first thing in the morning, or hire a bike from one of the many vendors that set up shop at the trailhead beginning at 9:00 a.m.

  • Okanagan Lake Boating

If you are in Kelowna during the warmer months, you should take a boat out on the enormous and breathtaking Okanagan Lake. This lake is 135 kilometers long, roughly 5 kilometers broad, and as deep as 230 meters. It’s a fjord lake because glaciers shaped it again and over again. You can spend time at the beaches, take in the scenery from land, or even take a helicopter ride over the lake, but being on the water is the most enjoyable experience.

Kelowna Water Taxi and Services, where a helpful Irish-Canadian man can arrange whatever kind of boat excursion you choose.

  • Experience Okanagan Lake On A Tour

Kelowna is on the eastern bank of Okanagan Lake, the biggest lake in the Okanagan Valley. This glacier-formed fjord lake is a deep, glacier-carved lake that stretches for 135 kilometers (84 miles) between Vernon and Penticton and is just waiting to be explored. In the summer, the lake’s temperature rises to a comfortable 19–23 degrees Celsius (66–71 degrees Fahrenheit), making it an attractive swimming spot. Pedal boats, pontoon boats, stand-up paddleboards, and kayaks may all be rented on Kelowna’s lake. Flyboarding is also an option.

Are you looking for something out of the ordinary to do in Kelowna? A Maeg’s BBQ boat trip is the way to go. Kelowna’s shoreline may be explored on a 45-minute guided tour or in the comfort of your own Barbecue Boat Float a barbecue of your own.

  • How To Take A Plane To Kelowna

With over 70 commercial flights per day, Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is one of the busiest airports in Canada despite the city’s modest size. The airport is conveniently located, just a twenty-minute drive from the heart of Kelowna.

Your travel guide should prove sufficient if Kelowna is your only stop on this journey. Suppose you are in Kelowna for a while and want to see more of British Columbia. In that case, you can easily spend a weekend or more visiting neighboring Penticton and, farther afield, Vancouver and Calgary. Lastly, read more about travel around the world here.

    Spread the love
