Spread the love

Good evening guys, today I’m going to tell you about another food that I discovered in a place near Naples.

Naples and it's TortanoYou might be wondering why I am writing all these articles about Naples and thinking about it my answer is because Naples is beautiful and also because I am there to visit it these days…but let’s not get lost in chatters and let’s go and discover my great discovery!

I was in a dairy named “Coppola”, and I asked the gentleman who worked there for something salty.

Guys this time I don’t know how to express myself because it was very good. The one I ate is called Tortano.

It’s incredible but I would like to call it Naples and its Tortano, it would be perfect as a nickname to this delicious dish what do you say? Guys the tortano is actually eaten in this period that is in the period of Easter in the Neapolitan cuisine.

It is a savory doughnut, with a thousand flavors and colors, that everyone likes, whether they are traditionalists or researchers of innovation.

A rustic leavened and stuffed that almost knows no age. It was born in the most remote tradition of the poor cuisine, made of few ingredients, which on the occasion of holidays were combined with each other, according to seasonality and availability. The same shape of tortano recalls the Holy Easter.

Its doughnut shape, in fact, recalls the crown of thorns and symbolizes the Passion of Christ and eating it is equivalent to take on the value of the symbol of sacrifice and to relieve oneself from the pain felt by Jesus.

It ‘s too good not to taste so that now or in some time will be in Naples can not fail to taste this delicious, beautiful and fantastic tortano! Obviously I invite you to read and comment also my old articles and to taste also those delicious foods…Guys, that’s all for today and I hope you enjoyed this article…as always let me know.

Regards.
