Rakaposhi 7788-M is a mountain in the Karakorum mountain range in Pakistan. It is situated in the Nagar Valley approximately 100 km north of the city of Gilgit.Eric Shipton called the Hunza vallay “the ultimate manifestation of mountain grandeur”. Rakaposhi is a mountain situated in the Hunza-Nagar valley of Gilgit Baltistan land of Pakistan. It is one of the most stunning mountains in the Karakorum Range of Gilgit Baltistan known for its improbable and incredible beauty around the globe. Rakaposhi is considered to be the 27th highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 7788m (25560ft) and the 12th highest mountain in Pakistan.

This gorgeous mountain is set between Nagar valley and Bagrot valley which is 100km northward of the city Gilgit. Rakaposhi means “snow-covered” because the mountain is all along embedded into the ashen snow which is the real affinity of this site. It is well known around the globe and trekkers from respective parts of the world visit this site when they have a tour to Pakistan.

Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani in the local accents which means “Mother of Mist “or” because it’s hidden in the clouds mostly. This pretty and astonishing White Mountain is a sign of the gift which God has bestowed to Pakistan, particularly to the Hunza-Nagar valley. In 1938 various attempts were started to suppress the mountain by the locals and foreigners as well but the success was accomplished in 1958 by Mike Banks and Tom Patey. The summit was the result of the British-Pakistani expedition which took place in 1958. Captain Sher Khan was the first Pakistani to summit the mountain on 1st July 1979. From three different routes, there have been eight attempts to this top. This is the loneliest mountain around the globe which has more than 5,000 meters climb between the base camp and the summit the rest of the tallest mountains bear less than 5,000 meters from base camp to top. The base camp is also the leading tourist spot and the move to the summit starts from the Minapin Village of Nagar valley. The snow-capped mountain is visible and its lambency is seen far away from various parts of the Hunza Valley. Although it’s hazardous and risky to trek through the mountain largely people devour to do it and they had a great experience after accomplishment.

Whenever you visit the Hunza valley the primitive thing you would seek will be the lovely Rakaposhi Mountain shining high above the sky. The pure white snow-covered mountain with a greenish enfolding reflects the actual beauty of nature and its unbelievable! Generally, there are three pathways through which you can reach the Rakaposhi base camp the first one is the Rakaposhi viewpoint, the second is Minapin Ground and the third one is from the Gilgit slope. Rakaposhi’s viewpoint is on with the Karakorum Highway and there are several hotels and restaurants as well.  You can reach to the base camp from the Rakaposhi viewpoint after two hours of trekking. Although the track is a little bit remote the dazzling view of Rakaposhi gives us the efficiency to come up with all the hurdles and difficulties so you keep moving on until you arrive at the base camp. The trek from Minapin village is comparatively easy for all age groups and it gives the taste of moving through the glacier as well. Rakaposhi base camp move is the best ever adventure in Pakistan all-night in the tent. From the base camp, you can excessively watch the Diran peak, along with Rakaposhi and their interconnectedness ice fence. The southern position for trekking is affable but it’s quite difficult to climb up from the northern plot.

The place Rakaposhi Range Mountain is dedicated as a community park by the people of Nagar and Bagrot valley which was inaugurated by the Minister of the northern areas of Pakistan. One more splendid feature of the mountain is that it’s considered to be the habitation of endangered species such as snow leopard, wolves, Marco polo sheep, and brown bears.

Rakaposhi is the only mountain in the world that rises sequential from the beautifully cultured fields to the apex and you can also seek the water falling from the mountain very closely.
