Why so many people rank Niagara Falls as one of the world’s seven natural wonders is not difficult to fathom. Or why it has hosted spectacular (and now unlawful) acts of daring-do over the years. The massive Niagara River thunders towards a 188-foot waterfall at speeds of 20 to 30 mph (and up to 68 mph), and your jaw drops the second you see it. A hazy fog and an unmistakable roar can be heard from kilometres away due to the river’s rapid descent. From there, people congregate around the rails to feel the mist. Visitors in bright ponchos may be seen on boats, platforms, and viewing decks along the water’s course as it winds downhill.
With time, Niagara has morphed from a traditional to a very kitschy honeymoon destination. There are beautiful waterfalls and many hotels and wedding chapels illuminated with bright neon signs. The magnificent Niagara Falls are calling, so load up the minivan, squeeze the two of you into a convertible, and make the vacation of a lifetime.
Central Park
The United States now has its first park. It’s steeped in tradition and has been around for quite some time. There are green fields and a recreation area, yet this spot is more like a little town than a park. Central Park is the best place to people-watch while travelling alone in New York City.
The park’s importance stems from the careful preparation and layout that went into it. To one-up the parks of Paris and London, this one was built. The design of Central Park reflects the influence of modern American aesthetics. The area retains its allure despite being centuries old.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
