Turkey is a beautiful place with a very mixed culture. Since it’s located between Europe and Asia, the cultures have mixed, which you can see in their food, cultures, religions and their histories. There are so many beautiful places in Turkey, thanks to its stunning bazaars and impressive mosques, but it can be hard to figure out where you should truly go during your next trip to Turkey. To help you with this, we have made a list of the most beautiful spots in Turkey.

1.Butterfly Valley

Butterfly Valley is an absolutely stunning location in Turkey. You can find this place between cliffs with a beautiful blue bay. The beach has turquoise blue waters, which are perfect for taking photos, just like the rest of the valley actually. If you want the most spectacular view of this place, you should walk on the Lycian Way, which passes by the Butterfly Valley and will give you an amazing view. The beach is only accessible by boat, but once you’re there you can enjoy yourself for the entire day! You can lay down on the beach, go swimming and there’s even a beach bar that serves good beers and grilled fish. If you want to be more active, you can join one of the yoga classes that are given underneath the trees. The reason this magical place is called Butterfly Valley, is because you can find 100 different butterfly species there in the spring!

2.Bodrum

Bodrum is a port city in Turkey that you should really visit. When you approach the city by boat, one of the first things you will notice is its amazing coastline, where the Castle of St. Peter will stand out the most. This city has pretty much everything.

There are some stunning and luxurious resorts as well as beautiful beaches. You can find many different cultures in Bodrum and there are multiple cultural events on a regular basis as well. The city has a population of 37.000 and they love to get visitors! Bodrum also has a rich history in which you can find some Greek mythology too, which makes it all the more interesting.

3.Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is located in Oludeniz and it is truly spectacular! The water is a beautiful shade of turquoise and you can find a lot of sea life here as well. This lagoon is a true example of untouched beauty!

Once you get to the lagoon, there are plenty of things you can do. You could go Kayaking or swimming for example, but the best way to explore the lagoon is to go snorkeling. You will have the opportunity to see sea life from up close, like sea horses or turtles, which is why you should definitely try this. In order to enter the Blue Lagoon, you have to pay an entrance fee though, as it’s located in a protected area. It can get crowded too, but this doesn’t take anything away from this unique experience.

4.Cappadocia

Cappadocia is a place with many rock formations, beautiful churches and great cities, which is why it’s such a great place to visit. The region has numerous buildings underground, like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu for example. There’s so much to explore in this region, but there’s a place to relax as well. You could go to Sunset Hill for example and look at all of the hot air balloons ascending into the sky. This is especially stunning during sunset! You can stay in the capital of Cappadocia, Nevsehir, and explore from there.

5.Pamukkale

In the western part of Turkey, you can find a stunning town called Pamukkale. This place is known mostly for its travertine terraces in which you can find water flowing downwards.

These terraces from Pamukkale are also often called a cotton castle, because of these stunning colour of these white terraces. The water inside is really warm as well, which is why you can use this place as a kind of natural, mineral spa. The entire place looks like it’s covered in snow, which only makes it more impressive to look at while you’re enjoying the warm waters. Pamukkale really is one of the most impressive places in Turkey.

6.Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the most ancient cities in the entire world. Although Rome used to be the center of the Roman Empire, Istanbul often overshadowed this city, as it was the capital city of both the Byzantine as well as the Ottoman Empire.

In this city, there’s so much to see that you will need at least two days to cover all of it. There are Byzantine and Ottoman palaces you should visit as well as stunning mosques and churches to stop by. In Istanbul, you will find many monuments and ruins as well, which are definitely worth a visit. While you’re there, be sure to try the amazing food as well!
