This beautiful waterfall rushes down in two steps, one 36 feet high and the other 72 feet high, plummeting into the more than one-mile-long canyon below. It is set along the renowned Golden Circle in the upper reaches of the River Hvita. Another must-see is the Strokkur geyser, located in the heart of a geothermal region surrounded by boiling springs. It may reach heights of 65 feet and erupts once every four to eight minutes.
Switzerland
Wine lovers might want to visit the northern beaches of Lake Geneva. Where the 2,050 acres of historic vineyards known as the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces cover the lower mountain slopes each fall. This 21-mile Swiss wine route runs from Ouchy in Lausanne to Chateau de Chillon Castle. Where hikers can stroll and sample their way through the vineyards. Follow the yellow arrows that state the route through medieval villages and active vineyards. Pubs, restaurants, and nearby wine cellars serve as convenient rest places.
Wicklow Mountains, Ireland
