We could include many more things, but we’ve narrowed it down to the ones we think best reflect the area and will provide visitors, particularly those interested in non-traditional entertainment, with the most rewarding and memorable experience possible.

Rincón de Guayabitos

Plan on going to the beach any time soon? You won’t have to seek very hard to locate a lovely seaside community in Mexico. Many people’s first thoughts of Mexican beaches are of larger resort towns like Cabo, but little beach communities like Rincón de Guayabitos are also great.Rincón de Guayabitos is a charming Mexican fishing village located on the Pacific Coast. The area is far less bustling than other Mexican resort towns, and as a result, it is much less expensive.

Yelapa

Skip the crowded, noisy spring break atmosphere in Puerto Vallarta and go to the tranquil town of Yelapa. Southern, near the Bay de Banderas. What’s even better? It’s completely shut off from the rest of the world, and the only methods to get there are either by boat over the beautiful Pacific or by trekking through the treacherous jungle (good for you!).

The beach is the primary attraction, of course. An enormous swath of fine sand falls gently into a bay of green ocean water. You can escape it all in this village, with rundown fish taco joints and primitive palapas to rest your head.

Xico

Veracruz is home to this picturesque municipality. In its idyllic depiction of a village where time seems to have stood still, its residents enjoy a year-round party atmosphere in which bright colors and warm temperatures coexist.

There are mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and coffee plantations around Xico. Its colonial architecture is worth exploring on foot, and the town’s cobblestone streets beckon visitors to do just that. There are museums in repurposed colonial homes, charming inns where you can sample the region’s magnificent cuisine, and eateries with stunning views of the region’s many waterfalls.

The ancient Totonaca tribe established Xicotribe, and it is well documented that Hernán Cortés visited the town on his journey to the Aztec capital. The locals’ lengthy history of crafting wooden goods and cooking delicious dishes is on display.

Aquismón

If you like outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and rafting, you should visit this fantastic spot in the State of San Luis Potos. At Aquismón, there are a plethora of waterfalls, rocks, and caverns that provide exciting excursions. The Tamul waterfall, which drops 114 meters into the Santa Mara River, is one of the main draws to this location. There are also the cliffs of Las Golondrinas and Las Huahuas and the craftable Tampaón River.

Caving enthusiasts are drawn to the area for its many caverns. Mantetzulel and El Aguacate are two of the most well-known places where such old rituals are being practiced today in the hopes of curing various illnesses. Tenek people make up most of this town’s population. They proudly display and sell their magnificent textile works at the Mercado de La Mora and other goods like coffee, vanilla, and handicrafts.

Zacatecas City

With an elevation of 8,100 feet, the Colonial town of Zacatecas is Mexico’s second-highest city. A trip here will transport visitors back in time to the 18th century because of the exquisite buildings that can be seen there.

Many colonial-era civic and religious structures, most notably the city’s imposing cathedral, remain visible reminders of the colonial era. These structures are widely regarded as among the nation’s finest examples of Churrigueresque design.

Silver and other mineral deposits in Zacatecas have long been the source of the region’s fame. In addition, the city hosts the internationally renowned Holy Week Cultural Festival, which features performances by over 50 dancers and other artists from throughout the globe.

Bahía de Loreto National Park

Because of its location on the eastern side of the Baja California Peninsula, the Bahia de Loreto National Park sees a far smaller number of tourists than the more well-known Cabo San Lucas.

Because of its importance in preserving the diverse marine life of the Sea of Cortez, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Guests visiting the village of Loreto may board a boat and speed across the ocean in search of sea lions, humpback whales, and sea turtles. Please remember to bring a fully charged camera!

Isla Aguada

Isla Aguada should be on your list of potential vacation destinations if you’re seeking a change of pace from the Yucatan’s more popular beaches. It’s a dilapidated fishing village that radiates genuine Mexicana coast charm, perched on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna de Términos. There isn’t any powdery white sand on the beaches farther east, but there are plenty of colorful fishing boats, cozy inns, and gentle waves on the beaches in the area.

While no city or town in Mexico can be undervalued, many tourists ignore some of the country’s most fascinating places. There are many undiscovered jewels in Mexico. Those who take the time to go will discover various attractions, from ancient towns to pristine beaches to gastronomic meccas. We’ve compiled a list of several less-visited but equally stunning cities and villages in Mexico that you should consider visiting on your next trip there.
