Dresden is one of the friendliest cities to visit in Germany, especially in the fall when it takes on a whole new palette of warm hues. It features striking architecture, various outstanding museums, and quiet cafes where you can have a cold beer.
The Zwinger Palace was modeled after Versailles. It is especially lovely with its well-maintained inner garden and intricate gates. A café on the balcony of this complex, which by the way, offers a fantastic outlook over the park, holds a few museums. Visit the free, pastel-colored dome inside.
