1.  Mount Gower

Mount Gower located in the heart of Lord Howe Island is one of the best hikes you will ever find in Australia. The island is proclaimed as a World Heritage-listed area and is a top tourist attraction site. Get impressive views of Nirvana from the top of Mount Gower. This moderate to hard level hike takes about five hours and the descent takes about four hours. Explore the biodiversity of this amazing island on a 14 kilometers hike along with a limited number of allowed visitors to protect the natural environment. You will get to see the Fern forests, moss-cloaked trees, and the rich landscape of the island. Take a glimpse of the neighboring Mount Lidgbird and the Balls Pyramid as well. 2.  Kings Canyon Rim Walk

If you are looking for a great short day hike, do consider Kings Canyon Rim Walk. It is a 6 kilometers hike in Watarrka National Park and will take 3 to 4 hours. You will get a chance to closely observe the wildlife, including kangaroos, zebra finches, and honeyeaters here. It requires an average to high fitness level to hike at places like King Canyon Rim Walk. First, you will reach the rim of the canyon then follow a u-shaped trail and enjoy the breathtaking view of a wonderland of weathered dome-shaped rocks, the Garden of Eden, and an oasis with lush vegetation. It is suggested to avoid hiking from September through May because of the extreme temperatures.

3.  Cape to Cape Track

If you are looking for one of the best coastal hikes in Australia, then do consider Cape to Cape Track. A multi-day hike of 135 kilometers is a truly rewarding hike. You will see a glimpse of coastal cliffs, Karru forests, sea cliffs, and surf beaches. The hike got its name for its route between the lighthouses of Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. This multi-day hike in the national park will take 5 to 7 days. However, you can slice it up to half-day hikes as well. You will be surprised by the vast biodiversity of flora and fauna in this area. 4.  Fraser Island Great Walk

Fraser Island or most popularly known as K’Gari is a proclaimed World Heritage site. It is a 90 kilometers walk and is the world’s largest sand island. Get along the magnificent views of spectacular villages, valleys, rainforests, and the shores of windswept beaches. The waters of Wanggoolba Creek and Lake McKenzie will leave you stunned. It is a relatively easier trail that takes 6 to 8 days to complete. However, you can slice it up if you are short of time. You may also find Australia’s wild dogs called Dingoes on the way. This area is a pampered site and you will find numerous private guest houses, resorts, villas, and ocean-view executive houses.

5.  Three Capes Track

The Three Capes Track offers you an unbelievable opportunity of walking along the edge of a continent. The only thing between you and Antarctica is the wild Tasman Sea. It is a 48-kilometer hiking path in Tasman National Park. If you have ever been to Tasmania, you can’t afford to miss this trek at any cost. You will be amazed by the spectacular magnificent views of the ocean, dense woods, and wild bays throughout the colorful coastal heath. You will also get an opportunity to explore the biodiversity of the region. 6.  Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail

Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail is another great hiking trail in Australia. It is a 61 kilometers kilometer multi-day track that will take nearly 5 days. You will get to see iconic destinations like Admirals Arch, Hanson Bay, Kelly Hill caves, Remarkable Rocks, and Weirs Cove. You will get a chance to see the wildlife here. Another highlight of the island is sea-sculpted limestone stalagmites and coastal vistas. You have to reserve your trip in advance.
