The scimmietta and his 5 star ice cream

Spread the love

Good afternoon guys, I’m happy to post another article that leads me to think wonderful things about Italy and manages to convey to you my tastes and feelings about these places and foods…. it’s all truly unique and wonderful!

Before I tell you about my discovery I wanted to tell you that you don’t have to thank me for what I express in my articles but I have to be the one to do it because you with your beautiful compliments bring joy to my heart…thank you!

But now I want to tell you about something that during this vacation I have encountered and that has given me a new and special flavor. I was in an ice cream shop called the “scimmietta” that offered truly unforgettable flavors. This was founded in Taranto back in 1922 by Michele Monacelli when at that time cold was produced with ice and salt.

Michele moved to Naples in 1933 and since then the seat was, and is, always in Piazza Carità, where the tradition continues uninterruptedly with the management by his nephew Marco.
The name was created by Michele himself, who had a monkey in his house with a taste for ice cream.
Faithful to the tradition Marco has continued in the principle of quality first, with the only difference in the use of new machinery that have improved the quality of the ice cream itself.

The creams are a proper balance of milk, eggs, sugar and cream; the ice cream pastes are homemade; for the coffee ice cream and the semifreddo we use top quality coffee, as well as for the fruit ice cream we use only seasonal fruit.

The recipes are all traditional, but today, due to changing tastes and dietary needs, the percentage of sugars has been reduced by 18/19%, and ice cream without added sugars for diabetics and celiacs has also been created.
the Scimmietta has a 5-star ice cream!

Guys, that’s all for today and I thank you again … see you in another journey to face together!

A greeting
